19th Street Underpass Opening Celebration on Earth Day and Bike to School Day

On Wednesday, April 22, join the City of Boulder and Boulder Valley School District at a community celebration and bike ride to mark the grand opening of the new 19th Street and Fourmile Canyon Creek Underpass, all on Bike & Roll to School Day and Earth Day.

This brand-new underpass gives students, families, and neighbors a safe route to cross 19th Street completely separate from vehicle traffic, connecting Crest View Elementary, Crestview Park, and surrounding neighborhoods. New 24/7 LED lighting makes it a bright, welcoming passage day or night.

Here’s how to join the fun:

  • 8:00-9:00 a.m.: Community celebration near the new underpass at Crest View Elementary School, 1897 Sumac Ave. Mingle with city staff, Transportation Advisory Board and City Council members, school communities, and neighbors.
  • 9:00 a.m.: A group bike ride departs Crest View heading to Centennial Middle School, showcasing the corridor’s multimodal improvements.
  • 9:15-9:45 a.m.: Continue the celebration at Centennial Middle School, 2205 Norwood Ave.

All neighbors are welcome! Whether you ride, walk, or simply want to cheer on this milestone for active transportation in Boulder, come out and celebrate a safer, greener way to get around.
