On Wednesday, June 26, Boulder Chamber Transportation Connections hosted an expanded breakfast super station in the parking lot of the Boulder Chamber, with more partners, treats and opportunities than ever before!
More than 500 people stopped by the station between 6:30 and 9:00 am to enjoy breakfast burritos from Bridge House, coffee by Ampersand Coffee Roasters, doughnuts from Voodoo Doughnut, and make-it-yourself “scat granola” offered by Eldorado Canyon State Park and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Visitors also enjoyed the opportunity to sample fresh juice mixers at the Cocktail Caravan mobile bar, pick up bike bags and spring-loaded cup holders from HandleStash, contribute to a collective painting on a large canvas provided by Open Studios, and snap pictures with their friends in the Visit Boulder photo bus.
We also welcomed representatives of Congressman Joe Neguse’s office, who provided information about the services they offer constituents. Staff of the Colorado chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association shared about the ways they support people with dementia. Colorado CarShare staff showed off the new red Toyota Rav4 based at the Boulder Chamber. Boulder Chiropractic & Nutrition supported riders with information about staying healthy, and the Play Boulder Foundation showed visitors how they ensure our Parks and Recreation facilities remain open and accessible for all.
Throughout the morning, our Transportation Connections team shared resources and information with riders alongside staff from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG). The DRCOG Way to Go team created temporary tattoos with this year’s Bike to Work Day artwork, which we helped riders apply, and DRCOG staff invited visitors to share how walking and bicycling make them feel as part of their Active Transportation Plan update.
Our biggest Bike to Work Day breakfast station ever was a huge success, thanks to the efforts of the Boulder Chamber Membership Services team. We loved meeting new friends and greeting everyone who stopped by. Big thanks to DRCOG’s Way to Go program for facilitating Bike to Work Day throughout the Denver-Boulder region, and to the businesses and bicyclists who participated. See you next year!
