Pump up those tires, check your chain and get ready to ride! Summer Bike to Work Day is coming up on June 26. Register your ride, then challenge yourself and your friends to see how many of the more than 50 breakfast stations you can visit in Boulder.
For the first time, Transportation Connections will be hosting a Super DUPER Station at the Boulder Chamber with more food, information and giveaways than ever before! Stop by between 6:30 and 9:00 am for Voodoo Doughnuts, Ampersand Coffee, delicious breakfast burritos, and information from our transportation and business partners, including Lime, Via Mobility, Discover Boulder Tours, Play Boulder, Cocktail Caravan, Boulder Lift, and Open Studios (and more!).
Register your ride here and find all the breakfast stations near you. Then join us in the afternoon for the Bike Home Happy Hour at Zeal Restaurant in Boulder Junction.
Boulder’s Walk and Bike Month has many more great events including the B360 bike ride on June 2 – a fun, free ride that’s great for families. Choose the 12-mile B180 or the 24-mile B360 loops around the city. Meet at the start in Valmont Park for bagels and water then return to the park at the end for free ice cream. Look for us at the rest stop at Aurora 7 Park.
There are plenty of activities for walkers in June, as well, with the Big Boulder Dog Walk on Saturday, June 8, and the 26-mile Walk 360 Slow Marathon on Saturday, June 22. Get details and check out all the month’s events at WalkandBikeMonth.org.
New this year is the Bike Theft Awareness Expo on June 15. Learn how to lock, register and potentially recover your bike. If you haven’t already registered your bike on the national Bike Index registry, this is a great time to do so. Learn more about bike maintenance at the great free workshops at Community Cycles throughout the month, as well, and come out on June 18 for the super-fun Bike Show at Upslope Brewing. In addition to categories such as commuter bikes and “Franken-bikes,” they’ll be featuring adaptive bikes. Learn what modifications people are making to bikes whether for fun, accessibility or optimal commuting.
All of these events and more are listed on the Walk and Bike Month website. We hope to see you walking and rolling this June!
